SOCIAL SATURDAYS
At OT Kids Academy, we are dedicated to nurturing well-rounded development in children and adolescents. That’s why we’re excited to introduce “Social Saturdays,” unique programs designed to foster essential social skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Our Social Saturdays initiative offers a range of groups tailored to various age groups, ensuring that children from Kindergarten through teenagers can benefit from valuable group work experiences.
Supporting Social Growth
Our Social Saturdays groups go beyond traditional learning environments, offering a safe and structured space where children can practice, refine, and master essential social skills. Led by our expert team of Occupational Therapists, these groups are particularly beneficial for children who experience challenges related to social anxiety, problem-solving, or forming and maintaining friendships.
Kindy Group
Ages 4-6
Saturday from 11am to 12pm
Designed specifically for children who are in their first year of school. Kindy group provides a safe space to continue promoting the skills needed for a successful first year of school (fine & gross motor, social/playground skills).
Community Enthusiasts Group
Primary age children (8-12 years) with Special Education Needs
Saturday from 9am to 10:30am
This specialised group focuses on creating inclusive opportunities, nurturing friendships, and supporting social growth for children with special education needs who are working towards skills for independence with activities of daily living and accessing the community.
Community Access Group (Teens)
Geared towards older teenagers (13+) with Special Education Needs
Saturday from 8am to 10am
This group encourages community engagement and social exploration, providing valuable life skills and connections.
Social Buddies Group
Children in Year 1
Saturdays from 10am to 11am
Specifically tailored for lower primary aged children (Year 1), with language skills, this group offers a space to enhance social interaction skills and develop friendships within their age group.
Social Scientists
Children in years 2, 3 and 4
Saturdays from 8am to 9am
Designed for children in mid-primary years this group helps participants refine their social skills, navigate more complex interactions, and build meaningful connections. These sessions empower children to navigate social interactions and problems with confidence and ease
Transition to High School
Designed for those who are making or have just made the transition to high school
Saturdays from 11am to 12pm
A crucial phase, our Transition to High School group assists pre-teens in navigating the skills needed for a successful transitioning to a new school environment while building confidence in social situations.
Social Problem Solvers
For older primary school children (years 4-6)
Saturdays from 10:30am to 11:30am.
This group offers your child the opportunity to learn, practice and master social problems. We practice using our emotional cues and learn strategies to regulate self, and then be able to negotiate and resolve social challenges, to navigate the social world.
