How to get started
If you or your child’s support team are concerned about your child’s development, please contact us to schedule in a consultation with one of our experienced therapists. We know that this process can be daunting and our team are here to support and guide you.
GIVE US A CALL
If you have a concern regarding your child, a chat with one of our friendly therapists will help us establish how to help you. Our administrator will document your details and complete an intake form with you over the phone.
We will arrange a time to complete an assessment with your child at our facility.
You will receive a confirmation email and package with information to prepare for the assessment. This includes a Parent Questionnaire to complete and return which helps our therapists review your child’s developmental history and presenting problems prior to their assessment. We will also review any previous tests that may have been done elsewhere.
The assessment will be conducted at our facility and usually takes about 2 hours. It involves a comprehensive evaluation consisting of standardised testing, observations in play, and parent discussion. We always strive to create a calm, safe and fun environment to engage and build rapport with your child. Parents are welcome to stay for the assessment.
This assessment provides the vital information we need to design your child’s treatment plan. Feedback of our findings may happen directly after the assessment or in a follow up session or phone call, depending on what you, as the parent, prefer. If you require a written report, this will be completed and sent to you within two weeks.
Your Occupational therapist will customise a treatment plan and set goals for your child with you.
ACTION TREATMENT PLAN
Treatment needs clients vary depending on their age, stage of development, diagnosis and parents’ priorities for change.
The various pathways for treatment may include;
- a block of weekly individual therapy sessions
- group therapy sessions
- further intervention in client’s own environments at home or school
- parent training sessions
- a home treatment program designed for parents to implement at home
The program may involve a combination of these pathways or some of our specialist therapy approaches, but it is always tailored to help your child realise their full potential.
